Acrylic paint on wood
I designed and painted a mural for Unity Reed High School. The five figures embody the diverse community of students and the maroon, gold, and white reflect the school’s colors. The swirling shapes and symmetrical composition create balance and harmony to emphasize my message of unity. The mural is located in a cafeteria, so I wanted students to see themselves in my illustration and understand the message, both in English and Spanish.
Process
I sketched out five different students based on my peers, then transferred the design to digital form. After being give the final dimensions for my mural, I added a grayscale swirl design to create harmony and bring attention to the central image. I sketched out my illustration using a projector, then rendered it with acrylic paint.
